Kapok buds popularly known as Marathi Moggu and is best described as a type of caper, and is also known as Kapok Buds. Kapok is the most used common name for the tree. Marathi Moggu is used in South India specially in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh in rice dishes like Bisi bele bath, pulao, also in preparations of masalas. Marathi Moggu is almost always fried in oil before using to release its full flavor. Its flavor is most similar to that of a combination of mustard and black pepper.
